Privacy Policy

Whit is made by Software Secrets LLC ("we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what information is involved when you use the Whit apps for iPhone, iPad, and Mac (the "Apps") and the getwhit.com website (the "Site", and together with the Apps, the "Service"), and how we handle it.

Whit is built to be calm and private. The things you capture in Whit live in your own iCloud, not on our servers, and there is no account to create. This policy describes that in detail, along with the limited information the website and the Apple App Store involve. By using the Service, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Whit on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac

Your content stays in your iCloud

The tasks, notes, links, timelines, and voice captures you create in Whit are stored in your own iCloud account and synced privately across your Apple devices through Apple's iCloud service. We do not operate our own servers for your Whit content, we do not receive a copy of it, and we cannot read it. Your use of iCloud is also governed by Apple's privacy policy and iCloud terms.

No account, no login

The Apps have no accounts and no sign-in. You do not create a username or password, and you do not log in with Apple, Google, or any other service to use Whit. Because there is no account, we do not hold a profile, email address, or password for you in connection with the Apps.

Information the Apps access on your device

To do their job, the Apps ask your permission to use certain features of your device. This information is used on your device and through your own iCloud and Apple services. It is not sent to or stored by Software Secrets.

• Microphone: When you press and hold to speak, the App uses your microphone to capture your voice and turn it into text (the Brain Dump voice feature). The audio is used only to create that text, which is then stored in your iCloud like anything else you capture. Speech-to-text may be performed by your device using Apple's speech recognition, in which case Apple's privacy policy applies. We do not receive or store your audio.
• Calendar (Apple Calendar): With your permission, Whit reads and writes events so it can show your day as a timeline and keep your plans in step. This works through Apple's Calendar and your iCloud. We do not receive a copy of your calendar.
• Reminders (Apple Reminders): With your permission, Whit reads and writes reminders so your tasks stay in sync with Apple Reminders. This works through Apple's Reminders and your iCloud. We do not receive a copy of your reminders.
• Notifications: With your permission, Whit sends you notifications, such as the gentle reminders and alerts you ask for. You can turn these off at any time.

You can grant or revoke any of these permissions at any time in your device's Settings.

No tracking and no analytics in the Apps

The Apps do not use third-party analytics tools, advertising, or cross-app or cross-site tracking. We do not build advertising profiles, and we do not track you across other companies' apps and websites.

The getwhit.com website

The website at getwhit.com is a static marketing site. It is separate from the Apps, and it is where the limited information below is involved.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how people find and use the website, such as which pages are viewed, the approximate region a visit comes from, and the type of device and browser used. Google processes this information on our behalf as described in the Google Privacy Policy. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store your IP address. We use this only to measure traffic and improve the Site, not to identify you.

Cookies

We ask for your consent before any analytics cookies are set. When you first visit, a banner lets you accept or decline. If you accept, Google Analytics is loaded and sets cookies to measure usage. If you decline, Google Analytics is not loaded and no analytics cookies are set. You can change your choice at any time through the Cookie settings link in the footer. The Apps do not use cookies. See Cookies and Tracking Technologies below for more.

Hosting and server logs

Our hosting provider processes standard technical data, such as your IP address and basic request logs, to deliver and secure the Site. This is ordinary web-server activity and is not used to identify you.

Purchases and billing

Whit is sold through the Apple App Store as a one-time purchase, with a free trial as described on our pricing page. Apple handles the trial, billing, and your purchase under Apple's terms. We never receive or store your payment-card details. Apple provides us with limited sales information, such as aggregate and anonymized reports and any data you choose to share with developers through the App Store, governed by Apple's privacy policy. Our 30-day money-back guarantee is offered in addition to any refund rights you have through Apple.

Customer support

If you email us at support@getwhit.com, we receive your email address and whatever information you choose to include. We use it only to respond to you and to provide support, and we keep it for as long as needed for that purpose and as required by law.

How We Use Information

We use the limited information described above to:

• Operate, secure, and improve the getwhit.com website, including measuring traffic with Google Analytics
• Provide the features of the Apps (your content is handled in your own iCloud, not by us)
• Respond to your questions and provide customer support
• Process and support your purchase through the Apple App Store
• Comply with law, enforce our Terms of Service, and prevent fraud or abuse

Lawful Bases for Processing (GDPR / UK GDPR):

• Legitimate Interests: Measuring and improving the website, securing the Service, and providing support
• Consent: Non-essential website analytics cookies, where consent is required
• Contract: Providing the App you have purchased and honoring your purchase
• Legal Obligations: Meeting our legal, tax, and accounting duties

Information Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

We rely on a small number of service providers, who handle information only as needed and under their own terms:

• Apple: App Store distribution, payments, iCloud sync, and Apple Calendar and Reminders
• Google: Google Analytics on the website
• Our hosting provider: serving and securing the getwhit.com website
• Email: handling your support messages

We may also disclose information when required by law, legal process, or a governmental request, or to enforce our Terms of Service or protect the rights, property, or safety of our users, the public, or us. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, and we will note any change of control here or by other prominent notice. We may share information for other purposes with your consent.

Data Retention

• Your Whit content: Stored in your own iCloud, under your control. You can export it from within Whit and delete it at any time from the App or your Apple account. We do not hold it, so there is nothing for us to retain or delete.
• Website analytics: Retained by Google Analytics for a limited period under our configuration, then deleted or aggregated.
• Customer support emails: Retained for as long as needed to help you and to meet legal requirements.
• Purchase records: Handled by Apple. Any records we keep are retained as required by tax and financial law.

Your Privacy Rights

Your rights depend on where you live. Because the Apps store your content in your own iCloud and we hold very little personal information, you can already access, export, and delete your Whit content yourself, in the App or through your Apple account. For anything we do hold, such as support emails or website analytics, contact us at support@getwhit.com and we will help.

All Users

• Access: Ask for a copy of any personal information we hold about you
• Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information
• Deletion: Ask us to delete personal information we hold (subject to legal retention requirements)
• Opt Out of Analytics: Decline or opt out of website analytics as described in Cookies and Tracking Technologies

In addition to the rights above, if you are located in the EU/EEA, you have:

• Right to Restriction: Request restriction of processing under certain circumstances
• Right to Object: Object to processing based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing
• Right to Data Portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format and transmit it to another controller
• Right to Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent for processing at any time (without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing)
• Right to Lodge a Complaint: File a complaint with your local data protection authority

How to Exercise Your Rights

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@getwhit.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law:

• EU/EEA/UK: Within one month (extendable by two additional months for complex requests)
• California: Within 45 days (extendable by 45 additional days)
• Canada: Within 30 days
• Brazil: Immediately or as soon as reasonably possible
• Australia: Within 30 days

We may require verification of your identity before processing your request. Because we hold so little personal information, in some cases we may not have anything to act on, and we will let you know if that is the case.

Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@getwhit.com. If we discover we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will delete that information promptly.

International Data Transfers

The website analytics provider (Google) and Apple operate in the United States and other countries, so limited information may be processed outside your country of residence.

Where required, these transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards, such as the Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission and the UK Information Commissioner's Office, adequacy decisions where applicable, and equivalent mechanisms under Canadian, Brazilian, and Australian law. Your Whit content stays in your own iCloud and is handled by Apple under your Apple Account settings.

Security Measures

We hold very little personal information, which limits risk by design. The getwhit.com website is served over encrypted connections (TLS/SSL). Your Whit content is protected by Apple's iCloud security under your own Apple Account. We use reasonable administrative and technical measures for the limited data we do handle, such as support emails and website analytics.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

The Apps do not use cookies or tracking technologies. The information in this section applies to the getwhit.com website.

Cookies We Use

• Essential Cookies: A small number of cookies needed for the Site to load and stay secure.
• Analytics Cookies: Google Analytics cookies that help us understand how the Site is used. These load only after you accept them in our consent banner.

The website does not use advertising cookies, and we do not use cookies to build advertising profiles.

Managing Your Choices

• Consent Banner: Accept or decline analytics when you first visit, and reopen your choice any time through the Cookie settings link in the footer.
• Browser Settings: Most web browsers let you refuse or delete cookies. Disabling essential cookies may affect how the Site works.
• Opt Out of Google Analytics: Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
• Do Not Track: Some browsers send a Do Not Track signal. There is no common standard for it yet, so we do not respond to it, but the Apps do not track you and the website limits collection to the analytics described here.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons.

• Material Changes: Because we usually do not have your email address, we will give notice of material changes by prominently posting them on getwhit.com, and by email where we have one (for example, if you have contacted support), at least 30 days before the changes take effect.
• Non-Material Changes: For minor updates, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy.

Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

Apple App Store Privacy Details

This section covers the disclosures Apple asks of apps distributed through the App Store, for our iOS, iPadOS, and macOS Apps.

• Data Collection: The Apps are designed not to collect personal data. Your content stays in your own iCloud, and there are no accounts. Our App Privacy details in App Store Connect reflect this minimal approach.
• Tracking: We do not track you across other companies' apps and websites, and we do not use data for advertising or advertising measurement. We do not use device fingerprinting.
• Third-Party SDKs: The Apps do not include third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
• Device Permissions: Microphone (voice capture), Calendar (Apple Calendar), Reminders (Apple Reminders), and Notifications, each used as described in "Whit on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac" and each manageable in your device Settings.
• Push Notifications: If you enable notifications, we send Service-related reminders and alerts through Apple's notification service. You can disable them at any time in your device Settings.
• Your Content and Deletion: Because there is no account, you control your content directly. You can export it in the App and delete it from the App or your Apple account at any time. To reach us about anything we might hold, such as a support email, contact support@getwhit.com.
• Children: The Apps are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
• Security: We rely on Apple's iCloud security for your content and reasonable measures for the limited data we handle, as described in Security Measures.
